"Symmetric HTTP" had me scratching my head for a few seconds earlier today
I imagine this will be the usual situation where OpenReach may be implementing the capability, but Aquiss will only be able to offer it if/when BT Wholesale do, so we'll probably have to wait and see....

Re: ipv4 /29 range available for home users?
https://www.aquiss.net/unlimited-superfast-business-fibre-broadband/ says it's £3 per month, I want to say it was £5 per month on full fibre when I was signing up around the start of this year, but I don't see that on the website at all now. Back then, it was stated that the fee was due to lack of I...

Re: baby jumbo frame
Interesting question. I tried it, for giggles, and it seems to work.... # ping -M do -s 1472 1.1.1.1 PING 1.1.1.1 (1.1.1.1) 1472(1500) bytes of data. 1480 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=55 time=16.8 ms 1480 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=55 time=17.0 ms 1480 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=3 tt...

Re: ISP reported as CityFibre
Yes, I've noticed that too. My address is assigned from 78.32.0.0/15, which is part of AS8468, which appears to belong to CityFibre/Entanet. Curiously, reverse-resolving my address produces '78-32-x-x.static.aquiss.com', where those immediately adjacent produce '78-32-x-x.static.enta.net'. I wonder ...

Re: Location by ip address
I'm in Northern Ireland, but geoip services place me in various different parts of England and Wales. Aquiss support told me that there's nothing they can do about it, and I'd have to try to deal with the geoip services myself (get my IP addresses associated with my actual location in their database...

Re: UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra compatibility
I saw some discussions about the UCG-Ultra, suggesting it maxes out around 700Mbps with PPPoE (and maybe with IDS enabled too). No personal experience, but https://community.ui.com/questions/UCG-Ultra-PPPoE-issue/1eaa6553-33b2-450d-8edf-846e20377a55 might be worth a read. Regarding upgrading your se...

All over the news today - OpenReach supposedly launching the 1.8Gbps service on 1st April (interesting choice of date!)

Re: Will Aquiss be offering 1.2Gbps and 1.8Gbps services
Just as a data-point; the OpenReach engineer who did my installation last week said that he had some of the 2.5Gbps ONTs in the back of his van, and seemed to think that the exchange end should be capable too. Being in the north-west of Northern Ireland, we're usually the last to get everything, so ...
