Will Aquiss be offering 1.2Gbps and 1.8Gbps services

Having seen a few other ISPs offering the 1.2/1.8 services now is there any update regarding Aquiss offering these?

Hi Heppie,

You have a good point,
I believe Vodaphone now offer 1.6 packages using Openreach infrastructure, I would be nice to see Aquiss offer it as they have a really nice support team from what I've seen

I suspect Vodafone are using Cityfibre infrastructure for >1 Gbps services at the moment, for my post code at least (only served by Openreach) the VF checker still only shows the packages up to 1 gig.

Vodafone are using both, quite clever tbf as expands where they can offer Fiber service.
Like my house has the option of Openreach or Virgin and this is what Vodafone offers,

Where as my friends house is covered by openreach fttc, Virgin, and City Fibre,

I continue to have conversations, with many networks, on a regular basis. This topic comes up each time. Whilst I won't go into commercial discussions in a public domain, there is a whole array of product developments I can see us deploying in 2025. When I have more to share, details will be provided.

From your discussions, is there any consensus about offered speeds on >1 Gbps tariffs? I noted Zen have just put their OR 1.6 Gbps tariff live for retail customers (including my address), but it's only showing 115 Mbps upload. I thought the upstream rate also increased to at least 120 on the 1.2 packages but is the retail 1.8 not higher on the upstream? If so, might there be scope to offer the 220 upstream as an option?

I know we're talking about niches within niches, but it would be useful to know what might be technically feasible in terms of provisioning, once higher speed packages go live. I would be interested in higher upstream as much as downstream, accepting that there'd also be a cost uplift, provided it wasn't horrifyingly expensive relative to the "usual" 1.8 price. Are the Openreach wholesale prices still really high for those services?

If what they are taking is the official Openreach package (and not just from their own LLU network), then the official upload on the 1.2 and 1.8 is 120Mbps.

I just can't see the 220Mbps upload becoming a mainstream OR package. The book price cost to providers is £1173.36 (ex VAT) per year, compared to £469.20 for 1000/115.

Arrrrgh it's so frustrating  And how much for you to come to my street and quietly install an XGSPON node? ;)

Interesting, I see as Zen have launched their higher tier speeds they've dropped the price of the other speeds as well, e.g the 900mbps package dropped by a fiver a month down to 50. I wonder if this is a trend we'll see further across ISPs as these packages roll out further.
