New install. What router (not TP-Link)

So CityFibre installed the ONT today (maybe asking them to return to move it as its not a great job).

Anyway, looking for a decent router now that's not TP-Link. Want one that supports VLANs, doesn't have to do VLANs itself as I have a switch that can, it just has to understand them.

Was trying my travel router out, the GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX), but doesn't look like that works with the pure fibre CityFibre service.

We are in the process of grouping hardware into 3 groups, with those that support VLAN IDs being added to our Full Compatibility list (for cross network support) as can be seen https://support.aquiss.net/en/knowledge ... patibility

The majority are TP-Link (as they are kind enough to support us with test kit), however, a few Asus models support VLANs, such as GT-AX11000 Pro, GT-AX6000, ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000, RT-AX86U Pro and RT-AX88U Pro will also work.

PFSense also supports VLANs.

A Draytek Vigor 2927 is doing the job for me. It exists in a few variants (WiFi, LTE etc).

I'd intended to have a look at the Unifi stuff, but a lightning strike took out my old Vigor 2860 so I had to act faster than anticipated

Thanks for the replies. How about the DrayTek Vigor 2135 AX?

One issue I have with DrayTek is the aerials. Had the Draytek Vigor 2862 if I remember right and the signal strength was always poor in a bungalow.

I looked at the UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra but discovered it does max 900mb so that idea has gone out the window, also its expensive and unsure what the WIFI range is like considering it has no external aerials.

I've no knowledge of that model - though a quick glance at the Draytek web site seem to indicate it is the less capable of the two.

I've never found any of the WiFi versions of Draytek's routers to be particularly high performance (though being integrated, they work seamlessly with VLANs). I personally use a pair of (wired) Vigor AP802 APs and an ancient TP-Link TL-WR702N (travel model), just to reach a couple of I.O.T. devices.

Thanks. Now looking at the ASUS RT-AX86U Pro instead need to decide today as Virgin gets cut off on Monday.
