Options for FTTP IPv4 via Openreach without PPPoE?

Happy customer of +2 years.

Looking to dabble with alternative routers such as pfSense/ OPNsense and belive that PPoE is limited by CPU speed and may impact bandwidth.

Due to this, is there a way of bringing up my connection without it?

We only support PPPoE. This is mainly because it allows us to mirror the same experience across different networks (2 live and 3 more incoming).

PPPoE is cpu hungry, but honestly most modern routers should be fine dealing with a gig PPPoE connection - I had no issues getting full speeds with pfsense and an N100 for e.g.

there are a few settings you need to adjust for PPPoE on pfsense and then it works properly, there is a thread on Reddit about it, one is ```net.isr.dispatch=deferred``` and another one I can't quite remember.

I have started using ubiquity ultra it's a bit faster in my experience then pfsense I had (ahtough pfsense box had 8gb memory and better cpu) but since I have all Unifi Wifi APs just easier to manage.
