UDM Pro - PPOE Performance - workarounds?

Hi all

I have a UDM Pro at home currently connected to a Virgin 1Gbit connection through the supplied router in bridge mode. I'm looking forward to moving to Aquiss 900 FTTP through BTW as soon as the poles go live.

I've read a fair few posts around PPOE performance issues on the UDM Pro as it lacks Hardware Offloading.

I'd rather not start disabling the security and routing features in order to obtain line speed knowing I'm probably sweating the CPU. What's everyone's experience? is this still an issue?

If it is, can I buy a router with PPOE hardware offload and assign a static public IP to the UDM Pro to avoid Double NAT? any other workarounds that I can use to get line speed with no compromises?

Thanks in advance!
M

Why not wait and see how it performs when you have the connection.. if it's not quick enough, consider alternatives then.

I don't know about the unifi implementation, but PPPoE is typically a single-threaded applciation, so throwing more cores at it won't help.

you might be better off asking teh questions in a forum with a bit more traffic - r/unifi on reddit springs to mind.

I'm using a UDM SE and had no performance issues on BTW 900
